Yoga for Structural Bodywork will introduce massage techniques and simple yoga poses for the lumbar spine. These techniques can be adapted to help maintain the postural improvements made through deep tissue and structural bodywork.
Participants will:
- learn anatomy of common injuries and postural imbalances that contribute to low back pain and sciatica,
- simple asanas or yoga poses for the low back,
- complimentary Deep Massage techniques,
- discuss how the yoga poses can be used to support clients' healing,
- discuss how the yoga poses can be used to support therapists' work and self-care.
The focus of the workshop is on yoga. Deep Massage techniques will also be taught to enhance participants' skills.
You do not have to be a yoga teacher or active yoga student to be able to do and share these asanas with your clients.
Tara White, B.A., LMT, Certified Deep Massage Instructor. Ms. White studied drama and vocal performance at the University of Houston and performed professionally in musical theater before coming to massage therapy. She is a graduate from all three semesters at TLC and has been a licensed, practicing therapist since 1994. She has also been a certified yoga instructor since 1997. She has also studied Zero Balancing and Aston Patterning. Tara is a certified instructor in Deep Massage -The Lauterstein Method and has taught numerous workshops in yoga and deep massage including a retreat in 2001 in Llandeilo, Wales. Ms. White specializes in rehabilitative and sports massage and bodywork which integrates the energetic and the physical. At TLC she is a senior instructor of deep massage, anatomy, structural and clinical bodywork.
