NCBTMB: ONLINE PRACTICE EXAM

Release provided by NCBTMB

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Illinois (July 21, 2009)  The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) announced today the release of its new online practice exam, developed to help schools prepare students for success on the National Certification Examination (NCE).

The new preparatory exam simulates the actual NCE experience, helping to reduce test-taking anxiety by familiarizing students with computer-based testing. It allows them to acquaint themselves with the format, terminology and types of questions they can expect when taking the NCE. Also, it serves as an additional learning opportunity by providing explanations for both correct and incorrect answers. The test is timed, like the NCE, and can be taken up to three times for a single $20 fee.

The practice exam and study guide are available for purchase on NCBTMB’s website, http://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=1023209157&msgid=1833535&act=J0Z7&c=401759&admin=0&destination=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ncbtmb.org, in the Hot Topics area.

For more information about NCBTMB’s online practice exam or study guide, contact Jillian Kelly, Manager of Certification Services, at 630-652-0477 or jkelly@ncbtmb.org.

TLCschool Offers Community Informal Massage Classes

informal classes

On Friday, April 30th, Lauterstein-Conway Massage School (TLCschool) will be hosting its first free Informal Massage Class at its campus on Burnet Road.

Anyone interested in massage therapy is encouraged to attend.

The Class will focus on massage for the forearm, wrist and hand and will be taught by TLCschool Massage Therapy Instructor Tammie Culley.

According to TLCschool co-director David Lauterstein, an old idea became a good idea when University of Texas at Austin (UT) announced the closing of Informal Classes in August. “We always wanted to be a center for wellness for our community - not just our students and clients. We are excited to be able to offer this service.”

UT’s Informal Classes included a class on Couples Massage, which TLCschool has offered to the public as a Valentine’s Day workshop for many years.

“We hope the April class will be the first of several,” Jennifer Shaw, TLCschool Marketing Director said. “The more people we can expose to the benefits and joy of massage therapy, the better.”

No experience, equipment or partner is required for Lauterstein-Conway’s Informal Massage Class. All massage will be performed fully clothed.

Because the class is free and space is limited, RSVPs are required.

Future Informal Massage Classes will include massage for the neck, face and scalp, lower leg and foot as well as classes about headaches, breath awareness, reflexology and more. Classes and titles will be announced on TLCschool.com as dates are set.

Lauterstein-Conway Massage School encourages those interested in attending an Informal Massage Class to follow the TLCschool on Facebook or Twitter where regular updates will also be posted.
