Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Massage has become one of the most frequently requested services at spas around the world. Smooth black volcanic rocks are heated and laid on the body warming and relaxing the muscles. The stones are an extension of the therapist's hands, and are used in traditional Swedish massage strokes as well as deep tissue techniques and trigger point therapy.

This 7 hour class will cover historical uses and physical and energetic properties of basalt stones, supplies and equipment, care and cleaning of stones, the appropriate temperature range for a safe therapeutic treatment, specific stone massage techniques, contraindications, tips on marketing and hands-on experience giving and receiving a hot stone massage.

Students will leave the class well prepared and confident to start offering hot stone massage to their clientele - and a set of hot stones!
