Massage for Seniors

July 13, 2008 9:00am-5:00pm $125($65 Deposit) 6 CEUs This workshop focuses on the unique needs of senior citizens. As the body ages, different approaches need to be taken with this client group. Students will learn what changes occur for which they need to make accommodations and how massage can help the robust to the very frail. A hands-on class, the lab portion of the workshop will focus on massage techniques for these clients. Students will also learn how to massage those in wheelchairs and as well as the bed bound. Additionally, special populations will be studied such as those with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Diseases.
Peggy Rouh, Ph. D., LMT, MTI
Peggy is the owner of A-a-a-h Massa-a-a-ge, PLLC. Her business specializes in massage for senior citizens. Certified in Geriatric Massage, she works with a variety of clients from the very robust to those bed- and wheelchair-bound.
A graduate of The Lauterstein-Conway Massage School semesters 1 and 2, Peggy took up massage as a second career after retiring from IBM Corp. with 30 years of experience. Putting her business and customer support experience to work, she has grown her business significantly since it opened its doors. Taking her skills and massage table directly to her clients helps give seniors the confidence in someone who understands and caters to their specific needs.
