 This workshop will focus on giving massage therapists tools to:

  • Increase body awareness through exploring the principles of the Alexander Technique in movement
  • Experiene movement explorations to increase fluiditiy of movement and postural freedom in walking, standing, sitting and moving around the massage table
  • Use “body reading” skills to expand awareness of “holding” patterns  to facilitate greater freedom of movement
  •   Improve balance through movement awareness of the feet and lower legs in movement
  • Learn “Body Mapping” skills of the head/neck joint, shoulder girdle, and the hip joint to aid in injury prevention and to improve freedom of movement
  • Improve your quality of touch by gaining ease in the shoulders, arms and hands by applying the Alexander Technique
  • Experince floor movements that relieve excessive tension and support postural freedom

Jane 2 photoJane Clanton Bick, M.Ed., LMT, has been a certified Alexander Technique instructor for over twenty-five years having trained with the first graduate of F.M.Alexander’s first training course. Jane is also a licensed massage therapist and a TLC graduate and she has been practicing massage and bodywork since 1995. Jane combines the Alexander and integrative bodywork in her private practice as well as in her work with massage and movement therapists. Jane also integrates the Anatomy Trains movement work in her teaching and focuses on mind/body movement training. Jane specializes in working with massage and bodywork therapists, performers, people in the medical professions, athletes and anyone who wants to relieve chronic pain and to improve their overall performance in all areas of their lives. Jane has taught workshops for massage therapists at various massage schools around the country and also workshops in Maui. Jane enjoys teaching massage therapists since the applications of the Alexander Technique so directly affect the quality of the experience in both giving and receiving massage and bodywork therapy. Jane is currently developing a self care movement curriculum for massage therapists.
