About the Workshop:

CORE Myofascial Therapy – Health, Fitness, Sports, and Performance Bodywork

A 4-System Approach

Virtually all clients these days are active in yoga, sports, martial arts or other fitness activities.  This 3-day, 24 CE seminar will train and prepare practitioners to effectively treat the myofascial tissues of active people.  It will give you skills to work with a wide variety of overuse patterns, even with athletes, ranging from martial artists, yogi’s, “weekend warriors” to those engaged in high-level training and performance. Participants will learn fascial anatomy, structural integration theory, and clinical protocols that advance recuperation, performance, increase flexibility and balance, reduce compensatory patterns, and diminish pain and soreness. Students will learn about classical somatotypes and their performance qualities, including the somatotypes that are prevalent in endurance, power, sprint, and multi-skill sports.

Day One will focus on a comprehensive myofascial therapy treatment for the pelvis, hips, legs and feet. This treatment works from the anterior, lateral, posterior and medial side of both legs, which allows the client to experience an integrated sense of wholeness and well-being. Treatment protocols address both extrinsic and intrinsic tissues that are fundamental to optimal performance.

Day Two will focus on Back Specific, a one-hour treatment plan for the paraspinals, scapular and shoulder tissues, thoracolumbar fascia, lumbo-sacral region, ilio-femoral tissues and the cervical attachments to the cranium. Back Specific has become a favorite treatment for many active people and  athletes who use the strength and leverage of the back for powerful movement patterns.

Day Three focuses on the lateral ribcage, thoracolumbar attachments, anterior chest, shoulders, cervical tissues, cranium and face. This treatment protocol restores a more complete respiratory function, lengthens the lateral thoracic and lumbar space, while increasing the movement potential of the shoulders, arms and neck.

Active people and athletic clients will notice an improvement in structural balance, movement patterns and flexibility, while experiencing a decrease in acute and chronic pain.
