How do you know if you are going to be a good candidate for massage school?
We use both objective and subjective criteria in determining eligibility for massage school admission. Because the quality of our students contributes greatly to the quality of our programs, please note that receipt of your application and fee does not necessarily guarantee acceptance into the program.
Massage School Prerequisites
Ineligibility
A person may be ineligible for registration as a massage therapist by the Texas Department of State Health Services if he/she has been: convicted of, entered a plea of nolo contendere or guilty to, or received deferred adjudication for crimes or offenses involving prostitution or sexual offenses; or, convicted of a violation of the Massage Therapy Act within the past five years.
Anyone currently employed at a sexually-oriented business will not be accepted for enrollment at The Lauterstein-Conway Massage School.
Evaluation of Prior Training
If you have prior education overlapping with any part of our 500-hour curriculum, you may be eligible for a tuition discount or shortened program. Determination of eligibility for such credit must be made by the Texas Department of State Health Services at (512) 834-6616. Applicants seeking exemption must be evaluated by TDSHS before enrolling (ideally six or more weeks before the enrollment consultation). A standard $35 special exceptions fee is applied for such applicants. We do not give advance credit for Semester Two or Three or other graduate seminars.
